Introduction to Circularity

Circularity is an approach to designing, building, and managing products, materials, and infrastructure so that resources stay in use for as long as possible. Instead of the traditional linear model; take, make, use, and dispose, a circular approach focuses on reducing waste, reusing components, repairing assets, and recycling resources at the end of their life. In practice, circularity means thinking about the entire life cycle of a project from the start. Materials are selected because they can be reused or recycled later, components are designed so they can be easily removed and used again, and existing structures are maintained or upgraded rather than replaced whenever possible.
